Preparing our students for bright futures
Term 3 is a busy time in our school, where a significant amount of planning begins for the following school year. I would like to thank our Careers and Sub School Teams for their support of students over a busy few weeks. They have been providing expert advice and support through such events as:
- Year 10 Future Options Day
- Years 8-9, 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12 Subject Selection days and evenings
- Year 9 Expo
- Year 10-11 Course Counselling
Our students are very fortunate to have such wonderful support systems in place to allow them to make informed decisions about their future. Thank you also to all parents/carers who have engaged in these processes over the past few weeks.
Neurodiversity Week
Last week we celebrated Neurodiversity Week with a range of information sessions, games and activities. The goal of the week was to help all members of our college community recognise that all brains are different, and that there are many different paths to success. As a school we are very proud of our inclusive environment, and this was a great opportunity to celebrate this diversity!
JLTAV Poster Competition
Congratulations to Yi Yi from year 7 for winning the 2026 JLTAV Poster Competition!
Her artwork was chosen as the winning design from Year 7-12 students all across Victoria. As a result, it will be published on the front cover of the 2026 Year 12 Morning Workbook! Thanks to the Japanese team for supporting our students.
Commonwealth Games success!
Congratulations to alumnus Emily Whitehead who won gold in her third Commonwealth Games in the Women’s’ Gymnastics Team Final. Through her time at MWSC, Emily did a fantastic job of balancing her schooling with her training demands. We are proud to see her success on the global stage.
We also congratulate race-walker Jemima Montag who, despite not being an alumnus, has been a valued community partner, visiting us annually to speak to our students. Jemima won yet another gold medal in the 10000 Metre Race Walk.
Principals’ Day 2026
Friday 7 August marks Principals’ Day 2026, a special opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding contribution principals and assistant principals make to public education.
School leaders play a vital role in shaping positive learning environments where students, staff, and families can thrive. Their work extends far beyond the classroom, encompassing educational leadership, student wellbeing, community engagement, staff support, and the ongoing improvement of schools.
Today we recognise the dedication, resilience, compassion, and leadership demonstrated by principals across Victorian government primary schools.
We extend our sincere thanks to our school leadership team for their commitment to our students, staff, and wider community.
