Junior School Round Robin

Our Year 7’s had their first taste of Round Robin sports on Thursday 9 March. Our students were super excited to head out representing the school in cricket, volleyball, tennis, baseball and softball. If this day is a sign of things to come, it seems like we have some super athletes amongst us. Out of the 8 teams who competed on the day, a staggering 4 made it through to Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) Finals.  Our Year 8’s then had their turn on Tuesday 21 March. Despite some heavy rain in the forecast, we managed to finish just in time before the skies opened upon us! Well done to all students who showed such fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship.

Congratulations to the following winning teams and coaches;

  • Year 7 Baseball team coached by Ms Murphy
  • Year 7 Boys Volleyball team coached by Mr Sheehan
  • Year 7 Girls Tennis team coached by Ms Gwynne
  • Year 7 Boys Cricket team coached by Mr Shaw
  • Year 8 Boys Baseball team coached by Ms Murphy

Year 8 Boys Cricket Team

The Year 8 Boys cricket team travelled to Freeway reserve on Tuesday 21 March for the Division Round Robin.  After winning the toss and electing to bat, the boys made 8-83 off their allotted 15 overs. Nathan W top scored with 22 runs and Aarush P made an impressive 18 not out. Despite some excellent bowling from Navindu R and Reuben S, we couldn’t restrict Glen Waverley Secondary College from passing our score in the 15th over.

Our second match was played against Vermont Secondary College. It was pleasing to see all the boys get a bat & bowl with special mention to Jasper J taking 3 wickets with his leg spin.  All of the 13 boys should be very proud of their efforts and have hopefully gained some valuable experience to take back to their clubs. Thank you to Maheer, Tavish & Nilax for volunteering  to assist with the coaching.   ~ Mr Campbell
