MWSC Bookplate Design Awards
The talented Year 11 Visual Communication students were given a design brief by the Library staff, to create a bookplate for Mount Waverley Secondary College. Bookplates have been used for centuries to symbolically convey meaning and ownership; they provide provenance and as such add value to the book being awarded or donated.
Initially it was envisaged that one design would be selected, but it soon became apparent there were too many exceptional works to choose from. These four winning designs were shortlisted and then went through a popular vote by staff. They not only met the design brief but speak volumes of the wealth of talent at our College. They will be used in books that are awarded as student prizes and books that are donated to the College Library.
Our immense thanks to Ms Cecilia Carlill for agreeing to undertake and guide her classes through this project. Without her it simply would not have come to fruition.
