It is wonderful to see live musical performances return to the college with two taking place in the past week.
The first was a lunchtime concert held in the Senior Campus Fishbowl. Featuring jazz group, “You’re Out of the Band”, a drum solo by Year 10, David R, and the MWSC Rock Band, a large group of students and staff gathered to enjoy these performances. Well done to all of our performers, we look forward to holding a number of these lunchtime concerts throughout the year.
The MWSC Jazz Night was held on the 25th March and included performances from current students, alumni and staff in a wide variety of jazz genres. Although the venue was changed to the SC Hall due to inclement weather, the evening was enjoyed by an audience and the atmosphere was great. It is such a great honor as a music director to such a thriving music community with so many students going on to continue playing their instrument either as a vocation, or as a hobby.
Thanks to the wonderful MWSC Music Leadership Team, led by College Music Captains, Lesedi M and Chris R who helped to organise, run and MC the evening.
VCAA Top Class 2020
On Tuesday 30 March, Sam Spicer (class of 2020) performed for the VCAA Top Class at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Sam performed his work Memphis Stomp, from the contemporary piano repertoire with expertise and poise. Well done Sam for this amazing achievement.
