The Year 7 Camp to Phillip Island ran from Wednesday 12 February to Friday 14 February and was a great success. Back at school during this time, the Year 8s immersed themselves in a range of opportunities as part of the annual Challenge Program. Below are some students’ reflections on the events:

Year 7 Camp -Phillip Island Adventure Resort

On Wednesday 12 February, the Year 7 cohort went on an exciting camp to Phillip Island Adventure Resort. This camp was conducted as an orientation program to the school, along with the perfect opportunity to meet new people and spend time with their friends and peers. Activities throughout the camp included a twin flying fox, high ropes course, ball games, canoeing, rafting, initiatives course, team rescue games, giant swing and even a trip to Amaze’n’Things, along with many more games, activities and programs to ensure everyone had the best possible experience while on the camp.
On the first night, students were given the opportunity to either watch a movie or go on a beach walk under the stars. Both activities were a success, as staff and students enjoyed their preferred activity.
Phillip Island’s weather was generally quite nice to us, being over 20° each of the three days we spent at the campsite. These were more than ideal conditions, and perfectly convenient to participate in every activity offered.
The food was good, especially because they had to cater for a group of approximately 300. The resort did an outstanding job tailoring for everyone’s dietary requirements and needs and put a delicious plate of food out for all students and staff attending the camp.
We would like to thank all the teachers who attended the camp for being so punctual and organised, along with assisting and running activities, games, programs, etc. They did an awesome job taking care of us… even if that meant forcing us to fall asleep at night-time. They ensured we had the best possible experience on camp.

Year 8 Camps in 2020

This year, we are running two camp experiences for Year 8 students. The focus of the Year 8 program is building resilience, overcoming challenges and developing students’ capacity for leadership. The camps have been carefully chosen to complement and enhance this focus and provide opportunities for students to develop these skills. Year 8 families will receive further information next Tuesday 25 February at our Information Evening, commencing at 7.00pm.
