On Friday 30 November, the Year 8 Boys Table tennis team headed to Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre to defend their state title from last year.

Our first game was against Mercy Regional Camperdown which we won 6 – 0. We then played Wonthaggi SC in round 2 and won 6-0. Our third round opponent was McKinnon SC and despite winning 5-1 the score line was not a true indication of how close the matches were.
After finishing top of pool A, we played Gilson SC in the semi final and after winning the singles 4-0, we decided not to play the doubles and rest up for the Grand final. The Grand Final was against our round three opponent McKinnon SC. Once again despite some very close matches, the boys prevailed 4 -0.
Congratulations to the following boys for winning back to back (2017-2018) state titles. A truly amazing effort!
Tim H, Dhruv C, Qi Z, Nithik V, Blair P, Karthik T / Julian G (scorers).

Mr Greg Campbell

These students also successfully defended the state title they won in 2017 as year 7 students. Over 400 schools enter at the start of the year, and these boys have been the best of the best. Simply amazing!
The boys showed incredible sportsmanship and were exceptionally humble and encouraging to all the opponents they faced. It was a privilege watching their elite skills over the last 2 years.
We would also like to congratulate their coach, Mr Greg Campbell. He would be the first to say there wasn’t much he could do to develop their skills. But the enormous time he put into running and supervising training sessions over the entire year went beyond what is expected of any teacher, let alone in a voluntary sporting coaching position.
Congratulations gentlemen!

Sports Leader – Junior School

In Term 1 this year our MWSC Community set about collecting as many Coles Sports for Schools vouchers as possible in the quest to trade them for sports equipment. The photo below is a remarkable result! Our sport equipment stocks have received a gigantic boost and it is all due to you!   Everything from softball bats, to hockey goalie kits, to mini scoreboards, to Molten basketballs and Sherrin footballs! The absolute works! Our students will have the great benefit of using this brand new equipment in 2019.

Mr Danny Gwynne and Mr Matt Cara (Sports Leaders) would like to thank you so very much for jumping on board the Coles journey and we look forward to doing it all again next year!
