Best Wishes to our Year 12 Students

The Year 12 Graduation Ceremony and Valedictory Dinner were evenings of nostalgia as we celebrated the achievements of our Year 12 cohort.
Congratulations to all Year 12 students who are now nearing the completion of thirteen years of school.  This is a magnificent achievement.  I would like to thank our Year 12 students for their contribution to our learning community which has allowed Mount Waverley Secondary College to maintain it’s well deserved outstanding reputation.
I would particularly like to thank Liam and Vidarshana for the magnificent job they have done as our College Captains and also congratulate Maddy  and Emma for their contribution as Deputy Captains.

The Senior Students have been excellent role models clearly demonstrating great leadership skills whilst maintaining a focus and dedication to study.
I have enjoyed meeting our Year 12 students throughout the year and I have been impressed with their dedication to study, support of their peers and positive relationships with their teachers.  I thank all staff who have supported our Year 12 students throughout their time at Mount Waverley Secondary College.

I encourage our Year 12 students to always believe you can achieve your dreams.  Never give up when life throws up a challenge.  That is the key to success.  Keep striving towards your goal and you will reach it.  I wish each and every Year 12 student all the best as they enter the next exciting phase of their lives.

Congratulations to Mr Danny Gwynne and Mr Matt Cara for organising a fantastic Sports Awards last week. The night ran very smoothly and our alumni Toby Pinwill an ex VFL footballer was a great guest speaker.  Well done to all of our talented sports students who won awards on the night.

Star Performer

Congratulations to Oscar in Year 11 whose composition was performed at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Schools launch last week. I am sure Oscar will continue to achieve wonderful things in music in the future.

Victorian Education Excellence Awards

On Friday 26 October I had the privilege of attending the Victorian Education Excellence Awards. Mrs Kari Simmons had been shortlisted as a finalist for the Outstanding Business Manager of the Year Award. Although she didn’t win, to be one of three finalists, shows how highly Kari is regarded in her field. Congratulations also to Ms Hayley Dureau who was the Master of Ceremonies at this prestigious event!

Year 7 Night at the Museum

On Tuesday 30 October our Year 7 Students presented Night at the Museum with the theme investigating the ‘Legacy of Ancient China’.  Parents, grandparents and friends all came along to view the exhibits and it was a great night.  I received many positive comments from our guests, so impressed with the quality of workmanship and research and the students’ ability to explain their work. Congratulations to our Humanities teaching team for working with the students on this great learning activity. I am sure the students will remember this night for years to come!

Last Working Bee for 2018

The last Working Bee for 2018 will be held on Sunday 25 November on the Senior Campus. We will spend time weeding and mulching garden beds as well as generally tidying up the Senior Campus ready for summer.  All parents, carers and students are welcome.
