Year 8 Camp
Thanks to students from 8E, 8I and 8K who attended our final Year 8 Camp of 2018 at Rubicon Outdoor Centre. T he students had a great week of challenging activities including a river journey and cross-country skiing, making the most of the last of this year’s snow. Many thanks to Ms Katie Radak, Ms Sarah Smith and Mr Kyle Barnden for attending the camp.
Wear it Purple Day
On Friday 31 August we held a range of activities to recognise Wear it Purple Day, celebrating diversity and support for the LGBTQI+ community. Thank you to all staff and students who showed their support on the day by wearing a splash of purple and getting involved in the lunchtime activities. Thank you to Ms Elizabeth Sutherland, Mr Andrew Morton, Ms Emma Kerr, Ms Jo Rogers and Ms Rachael McCracken for their efforts in organising the day.
Attitudes to School Survey Focus Groups
We held a focus group for each year level last week to provide an opportunity for students to discuss the Attitudes to School Survey data from this year. Thanks to those students involved for their reflective and insightful contributions. We are running a combined group next week so allow both year levels to discuss their findings and ideas together.
The College does not support the scheduling of absences during the school day and school term, including family holidays, where these may be arranged for out-of-school periods. If you know your child will be away for multiple days, please notify the college in writing well in advance so your child can complete an Absence Learning Plan before departure.
Planning for 2019
Planning for next year is well underway. Just a reminder to please notify the college in writing as soon as possible if you know that your child will not be returning to Mount Waverley Secondary College in 2019.
