The energetic buzz and the enthusiastic start to the year heralds a real sense of optimism about what can be achieved in and out of the classroom. I encourage each student to make the most of class time, build a positive working relationship with his or her teachers and make the commitment to perform at his or her best.
The Year 9 Inspire program and the Year 10 Camps are two successful programs that happened last week. Our Year 9 students were involved in a day of sport at the Box Hill Indoor Sports Centre, a character strengths session, a first aid course and a film at school with their third activity being a trip into the city to enable familiarisation in readiness for the Year 9 Explore program that happens in Term 2. Well done to all students on taking on the program and making it a real success. Thank you to Jan Pugsley, Bec Kosach and Kate Reichman for making this program happen.
The Year 10 Camp at Phillip Island happened concurrently with the Year 9 Inspire program. The camp allowed students to experience outdoor activities like flying foxes, canoeing and giant swings as well as visits to the Phillip Island Wildlife Park, racetrack and the beach. Students also had the opportunity to listen to Beau Vernon a guest speaker talk about the importance of attitude and gratitude. Well done to Lisa McKiernan, Glenda Splatt and Mardi de Kretser for organising a great camp.
