Senior Campus Principal’s Report

North Eastern Victoria Region (NEVR) Music Concert

I was lucky enough to attend the NEVR concert on Tuesday 30 May at Hamer Hall. It was wonderful to see our students perform in a range of ensembles. Mr Joseph Yu, one of our Instrumental Music Teachers, also conducted one band. The overall standard was excellent and it was great to see our talented students perform. It was amazing to see what the students could achieve with two days of rehearsals and a practice on the day of the concert. Congratulations to all involved.

Soiree Concerts – 20 & 22 June

This is a busy time for our music program. Please support the Soiree Concerts being held next week on Tuesday 20 June and Thursday 22 June at the Ashwood Performing Arts Centre. Tickets are available by trybooking.

The last few weeks have been very busy at the college. Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 were all involved in exams. This provided students with an opportunity to develop planning and study skills and to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding under exam conditions. It provides students with valuable experience in the lead up to the VCE external exams.
The exams ran smoothly and this is the result of input from a range of different people including Mr Ras van der Merwe (our Timetabler), the Middle and Senior School teams, Mrs Debbie Sekula (Head of Curriculum), Ms Bree Thomas (Office Manager) and all of the teachers who prepared exams, supervised them and have spent the last few weeks marking them.

VCAA – General Achievement Test (GAT)

On Wednesday this week all students completing a Unit 3 and 4 subject sit the GAT. It is used to moderate student assessment and can be used to determine Derived Exam Scores if required. Approximately 400 students sat the GAT. Thanks to the Senior School team, particularly Mr Nick Creed (Senior School Leader) for their efforts on the day and for supporting students in the lead up to the exam.

Year 12 Formal

The Year 12 Formal was held on Thursday at The International in Brighton. It was great to see our Year 12 students get together to celebrate the end of the first semester. Thanks to Mr Nick Creed, Ms Maureen Theobald (Head of Senior School) Ms Linda Crook and Ms Claire McCormack (Year 12 Coordinators) and the Year 12 Prefects who all planned and organised the event. Thank you also to all of the teachers who attended the event at a very busy time of the year.

Reports are being completed by staff and will be available via Compass on 30 June (last day of term). Year 11 students will receive their statement of exam results at the start of Term 3.
Wednesday 21 June is proof reading afternoon where teachers will check the reports. As communicated previously, students will be dismissed at the start of lunchtime on this day.
